Achievement Guideline:
Grades will reflect summative knowledge in subject matter, related to standards set for seventh grade science. All formative work will enhance understanding of subject matter and will be checked for completion but will not comprise more than ten percent of each student's grade. The overall grade will reflect the percentage of points achieved in relation to the total points possible within each reporting standard. Grades will be posted in the classroom by student ID numbers. Progress reports will be sent out to all students at set dates during each trimester.
Assignments are due on the day set by the teacher. Homework is only for those students that did not complete assignments in class or those that would like to review lessons for further understanding or study.  In accordance with the district policy, students will be given a time of one week and two attempts to prove proficiency of a specific standard in regards to summative assessment after the primary assessment. This must be arranged by the student with the teacher.
Students who are absent are responsible for all missing class work. It is the studentís responsibility to find out what work was missed by checking with classmates, the homework hotline, my web page or the assignment board. If absent the day of a test, it will be expected that the test will be taken the day the student returns.  Some activities are hands-on and can not usually be made up (alternate assignments will be given to make up, with an excused absence).
Keep all course work from this class. Proof of assignment and test grades will help if ever a discrepancy of grade occurs.

ACHIEVEMENT SUPPORT:  In addition to assessment-based grades, students will receive a work habit and a citizenship score. These will be based on three criteria each and recorded as (O) outstanding/advanced,  (S) satisfactory/proficient-basic,  (N) needs improvement/below basic and  (U) unsatisfactory/far below basic. The criteria for work habits is: prepared, effort and completion. The criteria for citizenship is: respect, responsibility and on-task behavior.

Behavior:
I believe that students are responsible for their learning experience. Students are expected to follow all school rules (student handbook). In addition, students are to :
        1. Respect other students.
        2. Use appropriate language.
        3. Be prepared for learning (supplies ready).

Rewards and consequences will follow certain behavior as decided by the instructor.
Rewards: 1. Recognition                Consequences: 1. Warning
                       2. Paw certificate                                  2.  Detention
                       3. Class reward points                           3.  Office referral
