CURRICULUM
                                OUTLINE
All areas of the curriculum are taught to go along with the State of California and the Roseville City School District Science Standards. Press either grade level below to obtain more detailed curriculum.
Seventhgrade will focus on these topics of life science:
Cells- Structure, function and processes of different
               types of cells
Genetics- DNA and trait influence on variation of
               species
Evolution- Diversity, relation, and extinction of
               species
Earth and Life History- geological events, fossils, and
                environmental factor that contribute
Living Systems- Structure and function of both plant
                and animal processes
                -including human reproduction and fetal
                development
-including adverse affects of certain substances
Physical Principles- Support for understanding of
                living organisms .
-including light and its uses and processes
    Investigation and Experimentation- Review the
scientific method and use tools available to
               research subject matter

The above topics planned for each trimester will be handed to the students and is as follows:
    Trimester 1 - Cells / Investigation
                        California Science Standards 1 &  7
Trimester 2 - Living systems / Physical principles / Investigation
                        California Science Standards 5, 6 & 7
    Trimester 3 - Genetics / Evolution / Earth history / Investigation
                        California Science Standards 2, 3, 4 & 7

Eighth grade will focus on these topics of physical science:
     Matter- make-up and movement of.
Physics- emphasis on Newton’s  Laws; motion, force,
                    velocity and bouyancy.
     Chemistry- atomic structure, elements and
organization of the periodic table, and
                   reactions.
     Astronomy- planet structure, composition, and
                    correlation with other planets.
Investigation and experimentation- Review of the
scientific method and to aid with the above
topics. These will usually be in group
settings. Some projects will be: rollercoasters,
bottle rockets, planet report, and element adoption.

The above topics planned for each trimester will be handed to the students and is as follows:
    Trimester 1 - Chemistry / Investigation
                        California Science Standards  3, 5, 6, 7 & 9
    Trimester 2 - Chemistry / Astronomy / Investigation
                        California Science Standards  3, 4, 5 & 9
    Trimester 3 - Physics / Matter / Investigation
